- What we offer
You deserve care that walks with you
Camina Mental Health was founded by Marjourie Mayorga, PMHNP-BC, with a vision of creating a safe and inclusive space — especially for those who have felt overlooked in traditional healthcare. We proudly serve diverse communities across California, including LGBTQ+ individuals, Spanish-speaking clients, and people of all cultural backgrounds.
At CAMINA Mental Health, I provide thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care for adults — always with compassion, cultural humility, and a focus on meeting you where you are. I believe medications can be a helpful tool, but never the only one. That’s why our offer includes these features

Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations

Collaborative medication management

Brief
Supportive psychotherapy

Telehealth appointments across California

Bilingual care in English and Spanish

Inclusive, culturally responsive care

First Visit —
Let’s Talk
We’ll meet for about 60 minutes to talk about what’s bringing you in. It’s a conversation — not a rushed evaluation.

The process of healing
What Treatment Looks Like
Care is collaborative. Depending on your needs, our work may include
- Medication management — when appropriate, always discussed thoroughly
- Supportive therapy — space to process, reflect, and build tools
- Lifestyle & wellness strategies — including sleep, nutrition, and stress management
- Lab testing — often part of psychiatric care when prescribing medications, but not always required
I offer psychiatric services via telehealth across California, with the possibility of in-person appointments in the future.
A Safe Space for You
This is an inclusive, judgment-free practice. I welcome adults of all backgrounds, especially those from immigrant, LGBTQ+, and underserved communities. You don’t need to “have it all together” — just come as you are.

How Often Will We Meet?
Treatment is individualized. Some people prefer regular visits for a period of time, while others check in as needed. We’ll decide together what works best for your goals and comfort.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Starting care can feel overwhelming — but your first visit is really just a thoughtful conversation.
The short version:
We’ll meet for about 60 minutes to talk about what’s bringing you in, your history, and your goals.
Sometimes a diagnosis or medication plan can begin in this visit — but not always. I take time to understand your full story and may suggest labs or collaborate with other providers if needed.
It’s a process — and we’ll walk through it together.
A Closer Look at the First Visit
Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, but also a space to get to know each other. We’ll talk through:
- What’s bringing you in
- Your emotional and physical symptoms
- Health and psychiatric history
- Medication use (past and present)
- Sleep, stress, relationships, and daily life
- What you hope to get from treatment
There’s no pressure to share everything all at once — and no pressure to make big decisions that don’t feel right.
Diagnosis and Medication — Not Always Immediate
Some people receive a diagnosis and begin treatment (including medication) during their first visit — but that’s not a guarantee.
We may need more time, more context, or more information from:
- Medical records or lab results
- Your primary care provider (with your permission)
- Family, caregivers, or support systems
- Additional follow-up visits
I approach treatment carefully and collaboratively, with a focus on safety, clarity, and trust.
Why Labs Might Be Recommended
This Is Just the Beginning
What Happens After the First Visit?
Care doesn’t end with one appointment — it’s a journey we take together.
After your initial evaluation, we’ll create a plan tailored to your needs. This might include medication management, supportive therapy, lifestyle changes, or a combination. Follow-up visits give us space to check in, adjust, and keep building on your progress.

How Often Are Follow-Ups?
That depends on you.
Some people benefit from more frequent visits at first — especially when starting a new medication or navigating a tough time. Others prefer to check in monthly, or only as needed.
We’ll talk about what feels supportive and sustainable for your unique situation, and we can adjust as things evolve.

What Do We Talk About?
Follow-ups are a space to:
- Monitor how you’re feeling — emotionally, physically, and functionally
- Adjust medications (if part of your plan)
- Process challenges and reflect on your progress
- Explore tools for managing stress, relationships, sleep, or mood
- Check in on lab results, medical coordination, or new goals
- Each visit is shaped by where you are and what you need.

In-Between Visits
If something comes up between appointments, you’re welcome to reach out through the secure patient portal. I’m here to support you — whether that means answering a quick question, refilling a prescription, or helping you decide if a sooner check-in is needed.
While I do my best to respond in a timely manner, please note that I am not a 24/7 service. If you’re ever in crisis, I’ll provide resources and emergency contacts to ensure you have support when you need it most.
Do I Have to Stay in Treatment Forever?
Not at all. Many people come in for a period of time, then taper off as they feel more stable. Others return during moments of stress or transition.
My role is to support you for as long (or short) as feels right — and to empower you with tools that last beyond our sessions.
